For families
Our process
Many families are covered through Blue Cross or employer benefits. Blue Cross plans have a very high rate of coverage for our services. Not sure about yours? We'll help you figure it out during your free consultation. No pressure, no commitment.
Once an inquiry has been initiated by you, Nightowl Nursing responds within 24 hours with information on ways to get into contact with you to get to know us and make sure we are the right fit for your family and your needs
We will arrange a meeting (either in person or via Google Meet) after the initial email to follow up about any questions or concerns you may have. We want to make it as seamless for you as possible so you do not need to worry about arranging meetings with us. We work on your time and with your availability.
When you are ready to have us in your home, we send out our agreement, forms and an invoice for 50% deposit as well as book the first 2 home visits with your family. The agreement & deposit secures our services, the forms help get us prepared for our first home visits and to anticipate your household's needs during our stay.
You can ask us whether you'd want us to wake you up to help with feedings, remind you of your medication times & help you with mobilization.
During quiet periods, your nurse will be working on a nursing care plan and/or research questions you may have asked so discussions on the topics can occur the same day or the next home visit.
Your nurse also may take breaks during quiet periods when she is not needed by you, your family, or your newborn.
During the home visit, the nurse could be equipped with a stethoscope, a thermometer & a baby scale. She may do your baby's temperature, heart rate and breathing rate when needed.
We will also be in touch with you between home visits to ask about your wellbeing, if you have any questions and concerns as well as book more appointments with you (as per the package you've chosen and/or made with us). Every home visit may be the same or different depending on what you'd like from our nurses. We would like to be able to be there for you every step of the way through your new postpartum journey.
After the home visits are completed, we will do wellness check-ins once a week for two weeks as per your request. We are open to texts, emails, zoom/google meet calls, or phone calls as per your convenience. We understand your family is busy, we will do our best to accommodate any request for time. Wellness checks are provided but not mandatory.
We love to receive your feedback on what you enjoyed about our services and what we can improve upon. We will send you a voluntary survey as well as a chance to give us feedback on Google. We are open to constructive feedback at any time during our time with you & your family.
We will send you a service deliverables on the number of hours we have done with your family long with any information you've asked from us.

Common questions
We provide in-home postpartum and newborn support such as diaper changes, settling, feeding support (breast, bottle, or combination), basic health monitoring, and protecting your rest and recovery as parents. Exactly how this looks is customized to each family and discussed during your consultation.
We're a strong fit for families navigating sleep deprivation, feeding challenges, mental health or medical concerns, twins or multiples, or a limited local support system. If you prefer professional, clinically informed care from Registered Nurses, we're here for you. During the consultation, we'll let you know honestly if we're the right fit, or if another type of support may serve you better.
Both. Common patterns include overnight shifts to protect your sleep, and daytime visits for feeding help, recovery support, and troubleshooting routines. The exact length, timing, and frequency are tailored to your family and planned together during the consultation.
Our pricing reflects the type of support you need, the timing and length of shifts, and the complexity of your situation. Because this varies from family to family, we provide a clear, personalized quote during your consultation once we understand your needs and potential benefits coverage.
Many families successfully use extended health benefits to offset costs, but each plan is different. During your consultation, we can review the kind of coverage you may have, explain what documentation we typically provide for claims, and outline common next steps. We can't guarantee coverage, but we do our best to set you up with the information insurers usually request.
Your care is provided by screened Registered Nurses experienced in working with families at home. We can share more about your nurse's background and how we match you based on your needs, whether that's twins, medical complexity, pets, or language preference. You'll have a chance to ask questions and feel comfortable before care begins.
We prioritize continuity. Many families work with a small, consistent team rather than a large rotating pool. If a change is needed, we arrange a proper handover so your baby's routines and your preferences are respected. We'll go over what continuity realistically looks like for your schedule during the consultation.
Yes, we can support whatever feeding plan you choose, offer guidance on positioning and reading baby's cues, and help you establish gentler, developmentally appropriate sleep routines. For more complex clinical issues, we may recommend involving your doctor, midwife, or a dedicated specialist.
Either works. Reaching out during pregnancy lets us secure space in the schedule and get paperwork and benefits questions out of the way early. If your baby is already here, we'll move as quickly as we can to review your needs. You don't have to know all the details yet, we can sketch a flexible plan that adjusts once baby arrives.
Yes, we regularly work with families of twins and multiples and understand the added complexity around feeding, sleep, and parental exhaustion. During your consultation, we'll talk about realistic expectations and how this may affect your schedule and pricing.
Your consultation is designed to be informative, not pressured. If you decide to start with less support, wait and reassess, or explore a different type of service, we'll respect that completely. Where possible, we'll point you toward other helpful resources. You're always welcome to reconnect if your needs change.
