Registered Nurse: Postpartum & Newborn Care

We are currently hiring experienced Registered Nurses to provide professional, overnight in-home postpartum care for newborns and their families.

NightOwl Nursing was founded on the belief that professional postpartum care should be accessible to all families as they transition into parenthood. Our role is to bridge the gap by providing evidence-based education, clinical care, and emotional support in the home.

What we're looking for

Active RN license in good standing. Canadian-trained with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (or equivalent).

Experience in postpartum care, obstetrics, LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum), public health, or newborn care.

Strong clinical judgment, assessment skills, and excellent communication abilities.

Calm, compassionate bedside manner. Valid driver's licence, reliable transportation, and successful background check.

Overnight postpartum recovery support. Monitoring for vaginal tears, episiotomies, and caesarean incisions. Blood pressure monitoring. Lactation and breastfeeding support. Medication guidance as prescribed. Supporting maternal rest and recovery.

Newborn Care

Overnight infant feeding (breast, bottle, formula). Diaper changes, soothing, and sleep facilitation. Newborn bathing and clothing changes. Head-to-toe assessments and vital signs. Behaviour education and use of monitoring tools like the Owlet Sock.

Clinical judgment and guidance on escalating care. Healthcare navigation support. Collaborative care planning with your family. 24/7 text and email support, plus video calls for up to two weeks following the final shift.

Autonomy, reliability, compassion

They value autonomy.

Overnight shifts require confidence and composure. This role is suited to nurses who are comfortable working independently in quiet home settings, maintaining vigilance, and responding appropriately to newborn and postpartum needs throughout the night.

They are reliable.

Overnight care is often when families are most vulnerable. Your presence allows parents to rest, recover, and build trust in their newborn's care while you support healthy routines and monitor infant wellbeing.
